Must have baby sleep essentials

Must have baby sleep essentials

Your must have baby essentials, tried and tested by the Sleep Teacher team!

Heading out to purchase things for your beautiful little bundle can be veryyy overwhelming! There is SO much to choose from and you can be left wondering, what exactly do we need and what can we take out of the cart?! The truth is newborn babies don’t need that much stuff! Of course it is fun to go out and spurlge on all the beautiful things but let’s take a look at what might actually help with getting your baby to take those beautiful naps once out in the big wide world!

· Baby Clothes.. my gosh there are sooo many adorable things to dress our bubs in but many are just not practical! Onesies with zips will be your best friend for the amount of times you will be changing your little one! (hello poo explosion number 3 for the day!) The are quick and you won’t be spending time with a crying bub trying to do 1000 buttons up!

· Swaddles! These are absolutely a MUST have to help your baby adjust to the world outside of the womb. Swaddles help mimic the sensation that your new little baby is so used to and can really help with their startle reflex. We love the stretchy bamboo styles that are about 120cmx120cm. For the babies who like to ‘break out!’ the ‘miracle blanket’ swaddle is perfect!

· Baby monitor – you really can’t go past CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor. You get to receive notifications when your baby needs you! Check in on them anytime, anywhere and make sure they are safe.

· White Noise – Just like the swaddle, we are helping to recreate the womb with soothing sounds that would be used to hearing! We love our very own Shooshie white noise machine and night light - which is perfect for at home and on the go! Grab yours here

· Black out blinds – these are a game changer for when you are trying to encourage longer stretches of sleep throughout the day and night in your babies sleep space. One of the things that dictate your babies circadian rhythm is light. We can help manage naps by making their space nice and dark! We love the Sleepy Sundays Removable Blockout Blinds which you can purchase here.

· Baby Thermometer – getting a temperature before 12weeks of age is a trip to your GP or emergency so having one of these is a great idea to help make decisions on how to best proceed!

· Baby Carrier – These can be SUPER useful if out and about or if having a tough day and you are needing some fresh air while still be able to be close to your baby. Perfect for those later afternoon naps as well when your babe just doesn’t want to settle. Pop them in the carrier, pop a podcast on with some coffee and off you go!

There are so many items that are advertised to use and we feel we MUST have, but at the end of the day, you really don't need it all and alot of it can be borrowed from friends and family on the once or twice occasion you may need it. x
